About Therapy

We’re told a lot of things about modern parenting.
If you sum it all up, we’re told we should be able to take care of EVERYTHING.
All the stress.
All the activities.
All the chores.
And while you’re doing all that:
Don’t be too much of this or too little of that.
Be on time and fully present at work.
Make time for and nurture your other relationships.
Oh, and do it with ease, effectiveness, and a smile.
It’s too much!
OBVIOUSLY. Anyone can tell that.
But some strange combination of research and public sentiment keeps us trapped on this crazy hamster wheel.
Meanwhile, your instincts are screaming against it.
You’re not the only one.

I get it, and I’m here to help.
I give you a space where you can share your innermost thoughts and emotions.
Let it fly… there’s NO judgment here.
And, maybe for the first time since you can remember, you’ll actually be HEARD.
You have to get comfortable sharing what you truly think and feel so you can understand WHY your “operating system” functions as it does.
We can then work on making changes that will keep you mindful and present, even when emotions run high.
You’ll be surprised at just how FREEING therapy can feel!
You’ll also develop compassion… for yourself.
You’re doing everything you can to be the best parent and human being you can be.
It’s time to stop questioning your every move so you can be at peace with yourself.
In therapy, you’ll learn techniques to combat those shaming, blaming messages you’ve been telling yourself.
We’ll replace that negativity with clarity, so you can engage in self-talk that’s helpful to you as a human being – not as some ideal of what you THINK you should be.

There’s an amazing discovery in store for you.
You’re coming to therapy to make sense of all the demands and figure out how to meet all the expectations.
What you’ll find is that the key to parenting (while keeping your sanity) is not about squeezing everything in (sucking you dry).
It’s more about learning to change your mindset – how to use your breath and other mindfulness tools to reset your brain in small, reasonable steps.
This shift will open you up to so much more:
- More focus instead of distraction.
- More space to respond instead of react.
- More activities that give instead of take your energy.
Once you start living life in a way that feels right for YOU, you’ll not only “keep up,” but you’ll have time and energy to do what matters most.
Don’t wait.
The relief you so desperately need won’t just fall out of the sky.
You have to make it happen.

About Jamie Clausen, LMHC

My general approach to therapy…
My goal is to find what works for you – to overcome life’s challenges in a way that is reasonable, manageable, and makes sense to you.
I’ll meet you where you are so you feel seen and heard. When you’re here, you can be your true, authentic self.
Working together, you’ll see that you’re not alone in your struggles. I share some of them myself. Let me support you so you can achieve your goals and make life choices that are right (once again ) for you.
My professional training and experience…
I have a license to practice therapy in Washington State (Credential: #LH60597987) and received my Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Northwest University. My training gave me access to and knowledge of many different approaches, focusing specifically on culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care.
Since then, I’ve continued my education and training to stay up to date on the latest issues and therapy techniques.
I’ve worked in a variety of different settings and roles, including community mental health, supervision, and now, private practice.
My personal life and interests…
I’m currently homeschooling my child. We go out and about often and do lots of activities together.
I have a medical condition where self-care is key. I use lots of the tools we’ll explore together in therapy to remain centered, grounded, and on top of my life.
And I love music and use it often to reset my nervous system.
Recently, I’ve taken up painting. You’ll likely see some of my paintings behind me on the screen as we work together.
